Founded in 2007 by award-winning violist Ion Zanca, The Dallas String Quartet has quickly become one of the areas most sought-after quartets. The group is comprised of standout performers from area orchestras each a virtuoso musician, praised by peers and music lovers alike. The quartet was recently featured for its BronBron Song urging LeBron James to sign with the Mavericks in such media as the Wall Street Journal, ESPN Radio 103.3 Dallas, KDFW-TV Fox 4s Good Day program, and WFAA-TVs Good Morning Texas.The music the group performs can be traditional or contemporary, amplified or intimate, in genres ranging from jazz to tango, classical to classic rock. Before creating their ensemble, members of the quartet appeared individually with a number of well-known orchestras and performers worldwide including Amy Grant, Josh Groban and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Meanwhile, the quartet, which includes Gaston Colloca (cello), Ion Zanca (viola), Jorge Caldelari (violin) and Tatiana Glava (violin) has just released its first CD. Titled Eclectric, it showcases the groups new sound using electric instruments.
