Dallas-based 5 Second Rule has kept toes tapping since 2008 with clever, lively mash-ups of traditional Irish dance tunes, classic rock and other styles. They light up pubs, festivals, coffee houses and concert halls year after year, delighting crowds with their big acoustic sound and unique variety.
Members include Michelle Feldman on fiddle, David Lovrien (piano, whistles, sax), Paul Dryer (guitar, mandolin, banjo, harmonica), and Rick Holt (bodhran & drums). The boys cover the vocals. All four members also teach traditional playing through Irish music educational programs in North Texas.
Their core backgrounds in jazz, folk, rock and Celtic music set the foundation for inventive excursions into jazz, world music, and other realms including classic rock and Cajun music! Performing both traditional and original material, their eclectic blend of styles, clever arrangements and driving sound keep audiences guessing what they will come up with next!
5 Second Rule has been performs yearly at the North Texas Irish Festival and has also appeared at the Austin Celtic Festival, WRR-FM Picnic in the Park, State Fair of Texas, Dallas City Arts Festival, Desoto Creekfest, Cowtown Celtic Festival, and Oklahoma Celtic Festival to name a few. Their inaugural performance was at the Meyerson Symphony Center, Dallas TX with the Lone Star Wind Orchestra and they performed on WRR-FM's Classic Cafe as well as WFAA Channel 8 News Daybreak.
