The roots of polka in Texas run deep, back to the German and Czech settlers who arrived in the state’s infancy. The Alpine Village Band originated from this rich culture nearly 50 years ago, and has been entertaining audiences in and around North Texas ever since!
The Alpine Village Band’s latest incarnation plays not only polkas and waltzes, but also Cajun and Latin beats, country, boogie and rock, among many other traditional and contemporary styles of music. If you can dance to it, the Alpine Village Band can play it! The diverse experience of each member comes together to form a band for all ages and stages. The Alpine Village Band brings talent, fun audience interaction, and exciting performances to festivals, private parties, corporate functions and any other venue!
Bandleader Wes Kucera has been playing drums for the past 40 years. Highlights of his musical career include performing in Broadway theater shows in Dallas, plus playing in Texas bands Solinger, Robert Lee Kobb, The Harvesters and, for over 20 years, The Alpine Village Band. In 2004 Wes became a Grammy Recording Artist as he recorded on Brave Combo’s CD Let’s Kiss, which won the Grammy for Best Polka Album of the Year.
Byron Palla is the vocalist, sax, guitar and bass player for the Alpine Village Band. Byron’s musical background includes various bands in the DFW Metroplex as well as the Longhorn and Gator marching, jazz and symphonic bands while attending the Universities of Texas and Florida.
Brian Busch plays the electronic accordion and bass guitar. Brian has played many musical styles since childhood in Detroit, and has continued to do so in diverse bands after moving to Dallas many years ago. Brian has also had the privilege of playing the Dallas House of Blues main stage as a soloist for many of their special shows.
Sander Hickerson plays guitar, bass and sax, and provides lead and backing vocals. Since he studied jazz at the University of North Texas, Sander has performed, toured and recorded with a variety of musical acts. He has two Austin Music Awards as a member of diRTy WoRMz, and currently performs with several classic rock tribute bands based in Dallas.
